Yesterday morning the news reports shifted to the Industrial Canal in New Orleans. Waves could be seen breaking over the flood wall. I couldn't help but remember that it was the failure of the flood wall along the Industrial Canal that flooded the Lower 9th Ward which contributed to the disaster in St. Bernard Parish after Katrina and the horror of what followed. My thoughts went back to last year when I went on a mission trip to NOLA to help in the cleanup efforts and wondered how a city could start over...again. Today, I think our prayers have been answered... and everyone can sigh a great big sigh of relief!
As fate would have it, I am forever blessed to be the mother of one exceptional daughter, Maggie and to be married to my high school sweetheart, Big Ian. Amidst the constant pandemonium and chaos that I have somehow become accustom to, I am also a 1st grade teacher and fighting stage 4 lung and bone cancer...and still standing!
