We stayed at the Yosemite Cedar Lodge in El Portal a few miles outside the park entrance. El Portal Road follows the Merced River all the way to the park entrance. Stopping at a historical marker, we found that the Yosemite Valley experienced the largest flood in recorded history. By storms end, rain fell at 11,000 feet, melting snow and rapidly flooding river's and creeks. amazing.
